Pakistan Launches Mobile & Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2026–2033 to Boost Exports

Pakistan has introduced a new Mobile and Electronic Devices Manufacturing Policy for the period 2026 to 2033. The policy has been prepared by the Engineering Development Board in consultation with local manufacturers and industry stakeholders.

The main goal is to increase local production, attract foreign investment, and expand exports of mobile phones and electronic devices.

Officials say the policy aims to reduce Pakistan’s reliance on imported components by increasing local manufacturing. Under the new plan, companies will be required to achieve 50 percent localisation by 2033. This means that half of the components used in devices should be produced within Pakistan.

The government also plans to increase mobile phone exports to over 500 million dollars in the coming years.

Global brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Nokia are seen as potential investors under this framework. Industry representatives believe that with the right incentives and stable policies, Pakistan can move from basic assembly to full-scale manufacturing.

Key targets under the policy are given below:

Target AreaGoal by 2033
Localisation Level50 percent
Mobile Exports500 million dollars plus
Policy Duration2026 to 2033

Experts say that countries like India and Vietnam have successfully built strong electronics sectors through similar strategies. If implemented effectively, this policy could create jobs, improve technical skills, and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global electronics market.
