Pakistan and China Advance Joint Livestock Technology Projects in New CPEC Phase

Pakistan and China have moved ahead with fresh agreements focused on livestock development and agricultural technology, signaling a practical shift in cooperation under the newer phase of CPEC.

Unlike earlier projects centered on roads and power plants, this round places agriculture and technical skills at the center of bilateral collaboration.

The new understandings aim to improve productivity in Pakistan’s livestock sector, which plays a key role in rural income and food supply. Both sides plan to introduce updated breeding methods, modern veterinary practices, and structured training programs for local professionals.

A joint platform will support research, standard setting, and the exchange of technical knowledge between institutions and private firms.

Part of the cooperation involves advanced breeding solutions for dairy cattle and sheep, along with expert level support to help farmers address low yield and disease management issues.

Pakistani companies are expected to work closely with Chinese specialists to adapt these technologies to local conditions.

Academic collaboration is also included. Veterinary institutions will coordinate on curriculum development, applied research, and hands on training facilities. The goal is to build long term capacity rather than rely only on imported expertise.

Officials view this development as part of a broader economic strategy. By strengthening agriculture and livestock through technology transfer and skills training, both countries are seeking more sustainable growth outcomes under CPEC’s updated framework.
