Pakistan Climbs to 72nd in Global Startup Rankings as IT Exports Reach $1.8 Billion

Pakistan’s digital economy showed clear progress in 2025. The country’s startup ecosystem grew by nearly 12 percent last year and now ranks 72nd in the world, with about 1,136 active startups and more than $114 million in funding.

This ranking reflects the number of young companies, investment levels, and visibility on the global scene. Pakistan now also sees itself higher among tech ecosystems in South Asia.

The growth of tech startups is helping the broader digital sector expand. In the first part of the current fiscal year (July to November), Pakistan’s IT exports climbed to around $1.8 billion, up about 19 percent from the year before. This increase shows that foreign demand for Pakistan’s software, digital services, and creative tech work is rising.

Digital marketing agencies and tech service firms are playing a larger role too. Agencies help local businesses across industries like e-commerce, healthcare, education, and real estate reach customers online. Many freelancers and small agencies now sell digital services to clients abroad, adding to export earnings and job chances at home.

Industries that once relied mainly on physical marketing are now adopting online tools to build visibility and sales. This shift has helped freelancers and startups gain new work and grow their skills.

Pakistan’s young workforce, large English speaking talent pool, and growing tech training programs also support this trend.

Despite this progress, experts say Pakistan still has room to grow. More investment in skills, internet access, and startup support will be important to keep this momentum strong in the coming years.
