Pakistan’s freelancers have achieved a major milestone. They earned a record $1.76 billion in export earnings during the fiscal year 2025-26. This shows a big jump of 78% from $985 million in the previous year.
According to official data, freelancer exports have grown more than four times in the last five years. They rose from $396 million earlier to the current high level. In June 2026 alone, freelancers brought in $164 million, 69% higher than the same month last year.
There are about 2.5 to 3 million freelancers in Pakistan. Their average monthly earnings per person have increased from around $12 to more than $53 over five years. This means the average income grew 4.4 times. Freelancers now play a key role in bringing foreign money into the country.
The sector faced ups and downs before. Earnings dropped in FY2022-23 but recovered strongly after that. Pakistan now ranks high in digital talent. It stands at 16th among 193 countries for overall digital skills and 8th in talent score.
Experts say this growth helps create jobs, support innovation, and diversify exports. The government and officials are working on better policies. These include improving digital skills training, easier payment systems, stable taxes, and faster internet like 5G.
With rising global demand for remote work and digital services, Pakistan’s freelance sector is set to grow more. Continued support can make it an even stronger pillar of the economy.
