Pakistan Strengthens Digital Future with Google and Mastercard Talks at Global Summit

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb held important meetings with global companies during the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings 2026.

He met with Mastercard and Google to discuss digital growth, financial inclusion, and the use of artificial intelligence in Pakistan.

In his meeting with Mastercard, both sides talked about improving digital payment systems in Pakistan.

They discussed ways to expand financial inclusion so that more people can access banking and digital services. The discussion also focused on promoting innovation in the fintech sector to support economic growth.

They also reviewed important issues such as cybersecurity, cross-border payments, and remittances. Both sides agreed on the need to build a secure and inclusive digital economy that can support businesses and individuals.

In a separate meeting with Google, the finance minister appreciated the company’s ongoing work in Pakistan. He highlighted Google’s efforts in providing AI training and skill development programs.

He also welcomed the local assembly of Chromebooks and the company’s plan to open an office in Pakistan in July 2026.

The discussion with Google also included future plans to promote artificial intelligence across key sectors like agriculture and manufacturing. These efforts aim to improve productivity and support innovation in the country.

Both meetings showed Pakistan’s commitment to digital transformation. The government is working with global partners to improve technology, support businesses, and create more opportunities for growth in the digital economy.
