Pakistan’s Textile Exports Dip Slightly Amid Mixed Sector Performance

Pakistan’s textile exports recorded a slight decline of 0.5% during July–March FY2025-26, reaching $13.545 billion compared to $13.613 billion in the same period last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

On a yearly basis, exports dropped 7.06% in March 2026 to $1.328 billion, down from $1.430 billion in March 2025. However, on a monthly basis, exports showed a small improvement, rising 1.36% compared to February.

Within the textile sector, some segments performed better than others. Ready-made garments grew by 3.77% to $3.208 billion, while bedwear exports increased slightly by 0.25% to $2.380 billion.

Other areas such as made-up articles, cotton yarn, and other textile materials also recorded modest growth. Raw cotton exports saw a noticeable increase during the period.

On the other hand, several key segments faced declines. Cotton cloth exports dropped by 10.94%, while knitwear fell by 1.14%. Exports of towels, synthetic textiles, and non-cotton yarn also decreased, reflecting mixed performance across the industry.

In the broader trade picture, Pakistan’s total exports in February 2026 stood at $2.278 billion, showing a decline compared to both January and the same month last year. Meanwhile, imports remained high, contributing to a growing trade deficit.

During July–February FY2025-26, imports increased by over 8%, while exports declined by more than 7%, pushing the trade deficit to $25.101 billion.
