New Pakistan-China Agreements Focus on Machinery, Healthcare and Vaccines

Pakistan and China signed new agreements on Friday, May 1, 2026, to expand cooperation in key sectors, including construction machinery, animal vaccines, and medical technology. The deals were signed during a ceremony in China, witnessed by senior officials, including President Asif Ali Zardari.

The agreements include a joint venture and two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese companies. One of the major focuses is the supply and development of construction machinery linked to infrastructure and CPEC-related projects. This is expected to improve equipment access and support local industrial development.

In the health sector, both countries agreed to work together on animal vaccines, including protection against diseases like foot-and-mouth. The partnership also includes plans for better animal health systems and possible tracking and safety solutions for livestock.

Another agreement covers medical technology cooperation between a Pakistani hospital and a Chinese tech company. It aims to introduce advanced tools, including smart medical systems, to improve healthcare services and hospital efficiency.

Officials said these agreements reflect growing economic and technical cooperation between the two countries. The focus is on technology transfer, local production, and skill development in Pakistan.

According to the Foreign Office, “The visit forms part of the longstanding tradition of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China and carries special significance as both countries mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.”

Overall, the new deals highlight the continued strengthening of Pakistan-China relations, with an emphasis on industrial growth, healthcare improvement, and modern technology adoption across important sectors.
