Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong and time-tested friendship with China, describing it as an “All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.” The statement came during a meeting with a high-level Chinese delegation led by Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC).
The Chinese delegation is visiting Pakistan to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. PM Shehbaz Sharif conveyed warm greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He appreciated China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Both sides expressed firm commitment to advancing the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The focus will be on key sectors including agriculture, information technology, industry, and mining. PM Shehbaz also highlighted Pakistan’s role as a gateway for regional connectivity.
Cai Dafeng assured Pakistan of China’s continued strong support and expressed willingness to build a “China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future.” Both countries emphasized their “ironclad brotherhood” as a pillar of peace and stability in the region.
Senior Pakistani leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Atta Tarar, and Ayaz Sadiq, also attended the meeting.
