Pakistan to Get Largest Tier III Data Centre Under New $230 Million Project

Quantum Global Data Centre (QGDC), a project of Gul Ahmed Energy Group, has announced plans to build Pakistan’s largest Tier III data centre, marking a major step in the country’s digital infrastructure development.

According to reports, the facility is expected to become operational in 2027 with an initial investment of around $230 million. Officials said the project reflects growing investor confidence in Pakistan’s technology and digital sectors.

The total investment in the project could rise to nearly $600 million over the next three to four years as expansion phases are completed. This would make it one of the largest private sector digital infrastructure investments in the country.

QGDC has also signed a strategic partnership with Huawei Pakistan to support the development of the data centre. The collaboration will also include plans for a science and technology park aimed at promoting innovation and digital growth.

Industry observers say the project is expected to significantly improve Pakistan’s data storage capacity, cloud infrastructure, and digital service reliability. It may also help attract international technology companies looking for secure and modern data solutions in the region.

Experts believe that large-scale data centre investments can support economic growth by strengthening the IT sector, creating skilled job opportunities, and improving digital connectivity.

The initiative is seen as part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to expand its digital economy and adopt advanced technologies. Officials say such projects will play an important role in supporting future innovation and technological transformation across industries.
