Punjab Plans Development-Focused Budget with Major Push for Infrastructure and Industry

The Punjab government is reportedly finalizing a budget of nearly Rs. 6 trillion for the fiscal year 2026-27, with a strong emphasis on development projects, industrial growth, and public services.

The proposed budget is expected to prioritize economic expansion and improve infrastructure across the province.

According to sources, around Rs. 1.45 trillion may be set aside for development spending. The funds are likely to be used for major projects in transportation, education, healthcare, urban development, and public infrastructure.

Officials believe these investments will help improve services and support long-term economic growth. A significant part of the proposed plan includes measures to strengthen the industrial sector.

Reports suggest that a Rs. 100 billion support package is being prepared for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and industries. The package may include concessional loans, financial incentives, and subsidies aimed at encouraging business activity and investment.

Transport infrastructure is also expected to receive major attention. Several large-scale projects, including proposed new metro corridors in Lahore, are under consideration.

These initiatives are intended to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and support urban mobility for millions of residents.

Government officials view the upcoming budget as an opportunity to create jobs, attract investment, and accelerate development throughout Punjab.

Improved transport networks and industrial support measures are expected to contribute to economic activity and business confidence.

The proposed budget reflects the province’s focus on balancing infrastructure development with economic growth.

While final allocations will be confirmed after the budget announcement, policymakers are aiming to support both public welfare and private-sector expansion.
