Pakistan’s logistics sector is set to receive a major boost with the approval of a new off-dock terminal at Hawksbay, Karachi.
The facility will be operated by International Cargo Terminals Pakistan (ICT), a subsidiary of Denmark-based Scan-Group A/S, and is expected to improve the efficiency of cargo handling and trade operations.
The new terminal has been designed to support growing import and export activities by reducing pressure on existing port facilities.
By shifting part of the cargo processing away from congested port areas, the project is expected to help businesses move goods more quickly and efficiently.
Officials believe the facility will significantly improve customs clearance procedures, shorten waiting times for shipments, and strengthen supply chain performance.
These improvements could benefit traders, manufacturers, and logistics companies that rely on smooth cargo movement for their operations.
The project also reflects increasing foreign investor confidence in Pakistan’s logistics and transport sector. This is Scan-Group’s second major investment in the country after its operations at Port Qasim, bringing the company’s total investment in Pakistan to more than $30 million.
Industry experts say modern logistics infrastructure plays a vital role in economic growth and international trade competitiveness.
The new terminal is expected to contribute to a more efficient trade environment while supporting future business expansion.
Authorities hope the development will attract additional foreign investment, create economic opportunities, and help modernize Pakistan’s logistics network.
The project is being viewed as an important step toward improving trade facilitation and strengthening the country’s position in regional and global supply chains.
