The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Department has introduced a fully operational Digital Medicines and Vaccines Procurement and Distribution Framework. This new system brings transparency and efficiency to the supply chain by tracking items from purchase to delivery to farmers.
Secretary Livestock Zariful Maani visited provincial warehouses and cold chain facilities to review the system. He saw a live digital dashboard that shows real-time data on stocks, distribution, and use. Officials checked records from districts like Bajaur, Mohmand, and Kohat by calling farmers to confirm deliveries. The verification showed the system works well and supplies reach the right people.
The initiative is part of the Chief Secretary’s Good Governance Roadmap. It aims to reduce leakages, improve accountability, and ensure better animal healthcare across settled and merged districts.
How the Digital Tracking Process Works:
- Procurement: Medicines and vaccines are ordered and recorded digitally with quality checks.
- Warehousing and Storage: Items are stored with real-time stock monitoring and cold chain temperature tracking.
- Distribution: Supplies are sent to districts and tracked at every step.
- Administration: Field staff record when and to which animals the medicines or vaccines are given.
- Verification: Officials can check details on the dashboard and confirm with farmers via calls or app.
This digital reform will help thousands of livestock farmers in KP by ensuring timely and genuine supplies. Livestock is a major part of the provincial economy, supporting milk, meat, and rural livelihoods.
