Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) sector got a big push on July 21, 2026. Chinese company StarCharge, along with StarCharge Energy Pakistan and Bahum Global Ltd, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Islamabad. This deal aims to bring advanced EV charging stations, new technology, and local manufacturing to the country.
StarCharge is a leading global player in EV charging. It has delivered millions of chargers worldwide and offers smart solutions for homes, businesses, and large fleets. The new partnership will focus on building charging networks, transferring technology, and helping Pakistan make EV parts locally.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, spoke at the signing ceremony. He said the government wants to speed up the shift to electric vehicles. This includes attracting foreign investment and supporting local production. He also mentioned the upcoming Battery Energy Storage System Policy, which will help grow the EV industry.
Experts believe more EVs will cut Pakistan’s heavy spending on imported fuel. It can also reduce pollution and improve energy security. The government is already planning more public charging stations to make EVs easier for everyday people to use.
This move comes as Pakistan’s EV market grows. Other Chinese brands like BYD are also entering with car assembly plans. StarCharge’s entry will make charging more reliable and support the whole EV ecosystem.
