OGDCL Strikes New Gas Discovery in Sindh, Boosting Pakistan’s Energy Outlook

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a new gas discovery at the Sahito-1 exploratory well located in Khairpur, Sindh.

The well lies within the Khewari Exploration License area and marks a positive development for the country’s energy sector.

According to initial reports, the well has shown strong production potential, with gas flows reaching 17.2 million standard cubic feet per day. The gas has been discovered from the Lower Goru Formation, which is known for its hydrocarbon reserves in the region.

OGDCL carried out the drilling operation using its own in-house expertise, reflecting the company’s technical strength and commitment to exploring local energy resources. This discovery is part of ongoing efforts to identify and develop new reserves within Pakistan.

Officials believe that this new find will play an important role in supporting the country’s growing energy needs. It is expected to help reduce the existing gas supply gap, which has been a major challenge for both industries and households.

In addition, the discovery will contribute to strengthening Pakistan’s energy security by increasing indigenous hydrocarbon reserves. This will also help lower the country’s dependence on imported fuel, saving valuable foreign exchange.
