Government Introduces Transparent Electricity Bills with Subsidy Details

The Ministry of Energy has announced a new transparency initiative that will allow electricity consumers to clearly see the amount of government subsidy included in their monthly power bills.

According to the Power Division, all electricity distribution companies have been directed to update billing details so eligible consumers can view the exact value of the financial relief they receive each month.

Officials said the move is aimed at improving transparency and helping people better understand the support being provided by the government.

As part of the new system, a QR code-based registration process is also being introduced on electricity bills. Consumers will need to scan the QR code and complete registration to continue receiving targeted subsidies in the future.

Authorities clarified that the initiative is not meant to end subsidies. Instead, it is designed to ensure that financial support reaches deserving households more effectively and to prevent misuse of public resources.

Officials stated that the government remains committed to supporting low and middle-income families despite economic challenges and rising fiscal pressure.

They added that subsidy reforms are being introduced to improve efficiency and strengthen the overall power sector system.

Consumers have been advised to complete the registration process as soon as possible to avoid any issues related to subsidy continuation.

Distribution companies will also provide assistance through their helplines for customers facing difficulties with registration or billing information.

The development is part of broader government efforts to modernize the energy sector, improve accountability, and make subsidy distribution more transparent and organized across the country.
