The clinic is based at Lahore Safari Zoo. It is fully equipped with portable X-ray machines, Doppler ultrasound, ECG monitors, vital sign devices, oxygen concentrators, and tools for minor surgeries. It can also perform quick blood tests and other diagnostics on site.
Dr. Rizwan Khan, Director of Veterinary Services, explained that moving wild animals to hospitals is often difficult and harmful. The mobile unit allows vets to examine, diagnose, and treat animals right where they are found, whether in cities, deserts, or mountains.
The vehicle uses portable and rechargeable equipment. It has a solar power system and a backup generator for reliable electricity during field operations. A modern dart gun helps safely sedate animals from a distance when needed.
This mobile clinic supports Punjab’s new Wildlife Rescue Center and hospital, where animals receive advanced care. It will serve zoos, safari parks, wildlife centers, and rescue missions across the province.
The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s focus on animal welfare and biodiversity protection. By providing fast, modern care, it aims to save more wildlife and promote responsible conservation in Pakistan.
