Sindh Police has announced plans to set up a modern digital forensic laboratory. The goal is to improve criminal investigations in a world where technology plays a big role in crimes. Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho shared this during a review meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi.
IG Odho explained that old investigation methods are not enough anymore. Modern crimes need smart, technology-based tools and strong evidence. He stressed the importance of digital evidence in solving cases quickly and fairly.
Senior police officers attended the meeting, including the Additional IG of the Counter-Terrorism Department and other top officials from IT, training, and other departments. They discussed detailed proposals for the lab, including its technical needs and how it will work. The project director for IT gave a full briefing.
Officials noted that almost 97 percent of investigation cases in Sindh now involve digital devices like mobile phones and computers. Around the world, about 90 percent of criminal cases depend on digital evidence. The new lab will help experts recover data, analyze phones, computers, and other devices, and present strong proof in courts.
This high-tech lab will support police in fighting cyber crimes, financial fraud, terrorism, and other technology-related offenses. It will make investigations faster, more accurate, and reliable. The project shows Sindh Police’s commitment to modern policing and better law and order in the province.
Experts believe the lab will train officers and bring international standards to local investigations. Once complete, it could become a model for other provinces in Pakistan. This step will help deliver justice more effectively in the digital age.
