Pakistan and Türkiye have agreed to work together on clean energy and climate projects. The two countries announced a new partnership focusing on electric vehicles (EVs), energy efficiency, electrification, and recycling. This step comes before the COP31 climate summit, which Türkiye will host in Antalya later in 2026.
The agreement was made during a meeting in Shamakhi, Azerbaijan, between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik and Türkiye’s Deputy Minister Fatma Varank. They discussed shared goals for fighting climate change and building a greener future.
Both sides plan to launch joint programs in clean transportation, energy saving, and the circular economy. This includes stronger recycling efforts. Pakistan also shared details about two important initiatives: the Green Field Programme, which supports young entrepreneurs with green startups, and the Green University initiative, which will promote climate research and international exchanges.
Dr. Malik conveyed good wishes from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Turkish leaders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The partnership aims to create practical solutions that help both nations reduce emissions and grow sustainably.
This collaboration shows growing ties between Pakistan and Türkiye in climate action. It will help Pakistan move towards cleaner transport and energy while gaining from Türkiye’s experience. Both countries will present updates at COP31 and explore more work in innovation and green business.
