Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced that the Sindh government has allocated Rs 9.25 billion for the development of industrial areas across the city. The funds will be used to improve roads, drainage, sewerage systems and other basic facilities that industrialists need to run their businesses smoothly.
On Saturday, the mayor laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 860 million in the Federal B Industrial Area. This amount is part of the larger Rs 9.25–9.5 billion package given by the Sindh government for all industrial zones in Karachi. The work in Federal B Area includes repairing roads, fixing sewerage lines and improving drainage. Officials aim to complete these projects by the end of December 2026.
Mayor Wahab said the government is giving special attention to industrial areas because strong industry is important for Karachi’s economy and for creating jobs. He explained that the funds have been transferred directly to industrial associations so that they can carry out the work according to their own needs. This is the third time development funds have been released for these zones.
Local industrialists welcomed the move and thanked the Sindh government and the mayor. They said better roads and drainage will help factories operate more efficiently and support export-oriented businesses. The mayor also promised that more money will be given for industrial development in the next financial year.
