NEPRA Orders Review of Pending Solar Net-Metering Connections

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has ordered the Power Information Technology Company (PITC) to carefully review and update the records of all pending net-metering cases. The review covers applications submitted to distribution companies (DISCOs) and K-Electric before February 9, 2026.

Many consumers who installed solar systems and completed all required paperwork have been waiting for months to get their connections. NEPRA’s directive aims to identify eligible applicants and clarify the exact status of each case. Once the review is finished, the relevant authorities will take further action according to the rules.

This step comes at a time when new prosumer regulations have created some uncertainty about the future of solar net metering. Despite those changes, NEPRA continues to process applications and has published recent approvals on its website. Consumers can also file complaints if their connection of up to 25 kilowatts is delayed.

It is important to note that NEPRA has not ordered immediate connections for everyone. The first priority is to verify and update the official records. After that, eligible consumers should see progress on their long-pending applications.

For households and businesses that have already invested in solar panels, this review offers hope that the waiting period may soon end. Clearing the backlog can help more people benefit from clean energy and lower electricity bills.
