Pakistan Exports Rise 10% to $2.96 Billion in July 2026, Textile Sector Leads

Pakistan’s exports made a strong start to the new fiscal year 2026-27. Total exports rose 10 percent to $2.96 billion in July 2026, compared with $2.69 billion in the same month last year. This data comes from the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA).

The textile sector remained the main driver of this growth. Textile exports increased by 9 percent to $1.83 billion, up from $1.68 billion in July 2025. Textiles made up about 62 percent of the country’s total exports. The association called this a healthy beginning and said there is still room for more growth.

However, the PTEA also raised concerns about the import side. Imports of capital goods rose over 43 percent, which is a positive sign as it shows investment in machinery and future production capacity. Raw material imports increased by more than 23 percent, which can support export manufacturing if used properly.

On the other hand, consumer goods imports jumped more than 27 percent. The association described this as consumption-led growth rather than productive growth. Such imports can widen the trade deficit without helping future export capacity.

The PTEA noted that Pakistan’s export performance has often been uneven over the years. It urged the government to fix long-term issues such as high input costs, energy prices, tax refunds, logistics, and inconsistent policies. Exporters need stable rules because they plan investments over many years, not just a few months.

Overall, the July figures offer a positive start, but sustained growth will depend on addressing structural challenges in the export system.
