MG Pakistan is taking concrete steps to export cars to Bangladesh. The company plans to send two completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle samples to Bangladesh in September 2026. These kits will go through local testing and approval, known as homologation. If everything is cleared, regular commercial exports are expected to begin in 2027.
The move follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2026 between MG Pakistan and its partners in Bangladesh. The project has full support from SAIC Motor, the Chinese parent company behind the MG brand. Officials say the effort matches Pakistan’s wider push to increase vehicle exports and reduce reliance on the local market alone.
Earlier announcements pointed to an initial shipment of around 100 vehicles this year and larger volumes of several thousand units over the following years. The current focus is on completing the approval process so that steady exports can start next year. Industry watchers see the deal as an important first step for Pakistan’s auto sector to enter regional markets.
MG Pakistan believes the project can help position the country as a manufacturing and export hub in the region. Other local assemblers may follow if the Bangladesh shipments prove successful.
