Pakistan’s Food Exports Reach $437 Million in July 2026

Pakistan’s food exports reached $437.08 million in July 2026, according to provisional data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. This marks a 4.28% rise from $419.16 million in June and a smaller 2.47% increase compared with $426.56 million in July 2025. In local currency, the exports were worth Rs 121.545 billion.

Rice continued to be the top food export item, though its value fell 6.51% from the previous month to $55.63 million. Basmati rice dropped more sharply on a monthly basis but still grew strongly compared with last year. Other rice varieties showed a mild monthly decline yet posted a solid year-on-year gain.

Some categories performed better. Meat and meat preparations rose both monthly and yearly, reaching $13.06 million. Oilseeds, nuts and kernels recorded the strongest jump, climbing nearly 70% from June and almost six times higher than a year earlier. Fruit and vegetable exports also improved slightly from June, although both remained lower than the same month in 2025. Fish exports, however, fell sharply.

On the import side, Pakistan spent $805.49 million on food in July, a notable increase from both the previous month and the previous year. Palm oil was the biggest import item and rose significantly. Tea and pulses also saw higher import values, while sugar and some other items declined.

The overall picture shows steady food exports supported by gains in meat and oilseeds, even as traditional items like rice and fish faced short-term pressure.
