Punjab Launches Juvenile Driving Permit at All e-Khidmat Centers

The Punjab government has started a new Juvenile Driving Permit service at all e-Khidmat Markaz centers across the province. Teenagers aged 16 to 18 years can now apply for this special permit.

The service aims to help young people drive safely and follow traffic rules. Eligible applicants need a valid NADRA B-Form or Smart Card. They must also bring written permission from a parent or legal guardian. After that, they have to pass a written test on traffic signs and a practical driving test.

Once approved, the permit allows them to ride motorcycles, scooters, and electric bikes with engines up to 125cc. This limited permission helps young riders start legally while learning good habits.

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the step shows the government’s focus on modern and easy public services. He added that it will encourage young people to drive responsibly and respect traffic laws.

The facility is open at every e-Khidmat Markaz in Punjab. Citizens can visit the official website ekhidmat.punjab.gov.pk for more details. Earlier, traffic police in cities like Rawalpindi and Murree had already begun issuing these permits. Now the process is more convenient through the e-Khidmat network.

Officials stress that helmet use remains compulsory. The permit can be cancelled for serious or repeated traffic violations. This initiative brings underage motorcycle riding under proper rules and parental supervision, making roads safer for everyone.
