Pakistani seafood exporters are finding new opportunities in Russia after receiving positive feedback from buyers at a major seafood show in Saint Petersburg. Seagreen Enterprises (Private) Limited is representing the country at the event together with the Pakistan Trade Mission in Russia.
Company chief executive Asim Abrar said the response from Russian visitors and importers shows clear potential for Pakistani products to gain a stronger place in the market. He noted that support from the Pakistan Trade Mission, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Marine Fisheries Department has helped open doors for local exporters.
The interest follows an important earlier step. In April 2026, Russian authorities approved 16 Pakistani seafood processing plants for exports. This marked the first time Pakistani seafood could officially enter the Russian market, which imports around three billion dollars of seafood each year. Officials have said the new access could eventually bring up to 300 million dollars in annual sales for Pakistan and help raise overall seafood exports from the current level of more than 500 million dollars toward 800 million dollars.
Pakistan has traditionally sold most of its seafood to China, the Gulf countries, Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States.
