PTA has approved the proposed merger of Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) and Telenor Pakistan, marking an important development in the country’s telecom sector.
Both PTML and Telenor Pakistan are wholly owned subsidiaries of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).
The approval was announced through a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.
According to the details, PTA granted its approval through an official order dated March 19, 2026.
However, the approval comes with certain conditions. The companies are required to submit their unconditional acceptance of these conditions within 15 days.
The merger will be carried out through a scheme of arrangement, following all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. This process ensures that the integration of both companies is done in a structured and transparent manner.
PTCL shared this update with the exchange under Rule 5.6.1 of the PSX Rule Book, along with relevant provisions of the Securities Act, 2015.
The company also confirmed that any further developments regarding the merger will be communicated in line with regulatory guidelines.
This merger is expected to reshape the telecom landscape in Pakistan by combining resources, infrastructure, and services of both companies. It may also improve service quality and operational efficiency for users.
