The Sindh government has opened online registration for a Rs 2,000 monthly petrol subsidy for motorcyclists. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced the relief package to help bike riders facing rising fuel prices. The subsidy is equal to 20 litres of petrol for the month of April and will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
Around 6.7 million registered motorcycles exist in Sindh. Only those whose motorcycle and bank account are in their own name can apply. If the bike is not registered in the applicant’s name, they must transfer ownership immediately. The government has abolished the motorcycle ownership transfer fee to make the process easier.
