Punjab Launches Rs 80,000 Monthly Subsidy for Heavy Vehicles

The Punjab government has announced a targeted monthly subsidy of Rs 80,000 for owners of large transport vehicles to provide relief from rising fuel prices.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced as part of a broader relief package for the transport sector. Under the scheme, registered large trucks will receive Rs 80,000 per month, while small goods transport vehicles will get Rs 70,000, and public service buses Rs 100,000 every month.

The move aims to reduce the financial burden on transporters caused by high diesel and petrol prices. It will help stabilise freight and passenger fares across the province and prevent further increases in the cost of goods transportation.

The subsidy will be given only to vehicles that are properly registered. The government is expected to release detailed implementation guidelines soon, including the exact process for receiving the monthly amount.

This initiative is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to support the common man and the transport industry amid economic challenges. Officials believe the subsidy will bring immediate relief to thousands of truck owners and help keep the supply chain smooth.

The announcement has been welcomed by transport associations, who say it will reduce their operational costs significantly. More details regarding the application process and payment method are likely to be shared in the coming days.

This relief package shows the provincial government’s focus on helping key sectors affected by inflation and high fuel costs.
