TransPeshawar has announced a major expansion of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. Fifty-two new buses are ready for shipment to Pakistan and will soon join the fleet.
This addition will increase the total number of buses in the Zu Peshawar system to 296. The new buses will operate on the main BRT corridor as well as feeder routes. Passengers can expect shorter waiting times, more seats, and improved service during busy hours.
The expansion comes as the city sees growing demand for reliable public transport. The new buses will help reduce overcrowding and make daily commuting easier for thousands of people in Peshawar.
In a welcome move, TransPeshawar will also launch a dedicated Pink Bus service for women after the new fleet arrives. This will provide safer and more comfortable travel options, especially during peak times.
The Peshawar BRT project, supported by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, has already improved urban mobility since its launch. It uses modern hybrid buses that are more environmentally friendly than older vehicles.
Officials say the expansion will strengthen the overall transport network and support better city planning. It reflects ongoing efforts to modernize public transport and reduce traffic pressure in Peshawar.
Residents are hopeful that these changes will bring more reliable and affordable travel options. The first batch of 25 new buses is expected to arrive in early July 2026.
