Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center (PIFTAC) and e-launched the AI Hub Punjab in Lahore. She said the two initiatives will help authorities identify security threats earlier, improve coordination between agencies, and respond more quickly to emerging challenges.
Speaking at the ceremony, the chief minister noted that Punjab has become the first province in Pakistan to establish an Artificial Intelligence Hub. She described the quick transformation of the AI concept into a working system as a major achievement completed within a few months.
The AI-enabled system will send digital alerts to district coordination committees. This will allow officials to spot potential problems before they turn into serious incidents. PIFTAC is designed to bring better intelligence sharing among security agencies and cut down response times against terrorism and other threats, including those coming from the tri-border region and neighbouring provinces.
Maryam Nawaz thanked the Pakistan Army for its support, especially Lahore Corps Commander Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain Shah. She also congratulated Home Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Home Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi, and other officials for setting up the facilities in record time.
The chief minister stressed that the real success will come from preventing incidents rather than reacting after they happen. She said these technology-driven steps will help make Punjab safer by focusing on early detection and faster action.
