Pakistan Approves Rs 10 Billion Package to Boost Exports

The federal government has approved a Rs 10 billion support package for Pakistan’s export-oriented industries. The funds will help textile, apparel and other export sectors through duty drawback and technology upgradation schemes.

Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan announced the decision. He said the money will improve the cash flow of exporters and allow them to increase sales abroad. Technology support will help companies buy modern machines, raise production capacity and become more competitive in global markets.

Pakistan’s textile exports stood at $17.93 billion in FY2025-26, only a small rise from the previous year. Traditional export industries still face high production costs and strong international competition. Many factories also need newer technology to produce higher-value goods.

At the same time, non-traditional exports are growing. ICT exports reached a record $4.6 billion in the same fiscal year. Officials hope the new package will give exporters more financial room while encouraging them to modernise their operations.

The government has been taking several steps to support exporters. These include easier access to finance and incentives for upgrading machinery. The latest Rs 10 billion release is part of that wider effort to lift overall exports and reduce pressure on the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
