Pakistan-Belarus Agree on B2B Sessions for Seafood, Fruits and Dairy

Pakistan and Belarus have taken fresh steps to grow their trade and economic partnership. At the 9th session of their Joint Ministerial Commission held in Islamabad on August 11-12, 2026, both countries signed new protocols and a media agreement. Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Belarus’s Energy Minister Dzianis Maroz co-chaired the talks.

The two sides agreed to organise online business-to-business (B2B) meetings. These sessions will help companies connect in areas such as seafood, fruits, vegetables, seeds and dairy products. They also plan to take part in each other’s agricultural exhibitions and food fairs, and send business groups on reciprocal visits. This will make it easier for traders to find partners and explore investment chances.

Agriculture was highlighted as a strong area for future growth. The countries will share knowledge on fish farming and look at ways to trade seeds more easily. Pakistan also suggested setting up a modern testing centre for agricultural machines with support from Belarus.

In the same period, official data showed Pakistan’s external debt and liabilities rose by about $5 billion in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year. The government’s external debt and liabilities reached $90.86 billion by the end of June 2026. Total external debt and liabilities for the country stood at $138.85 billion. The increase came mainly from new borrowing and other liabilities during that quarter.

While the debt figures show the continued pressure on public finances, the Belarus agreements open new doors for Pakistani exporters, especially in food and agriculture.
