Pakistan has secured a strong position in making it easier to start a business. According to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the country ranks 17th among 101 economies in the Business Entry category of the World Bank Group’s Business Ready (B-READY) 2025 Report. Pakistan scored 86.64 points in this area.
The B-READY assessment looks at how simple and efficient it is for people to open and run companies. It checks rules, public services, and day-to-day operations that affect businesses. Pakistan’s high ranking in business entry shows progress in company registration and related processes.
To build on this success, SECP has approved new steps. These include better digital sharing of company information with the Federal Board of Revenue through automated systems. This will cut down on repeated paperwork for businesses. SECP will also place details about environmental approvals and operating permits on its website once other departments provide the data. Information on support programmes for small and medium enterprises and women entrepreneurs will become easier to find online. Gender-based data on new companies will also be published.
These changes aim to make the system more transparent and connected between government offices. SECP says the reforms will help Pakistan score even higher and improve its overall ranking in future reports.
