Pakistan’s seafood exports reached a new record of $568 million in fiscal year 2025-26. This marks a big success for the country’s blue economy and shows strong growth in the marine sector.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry shared the good news. He said frozen fish was the top export item, earning $105.09 million. It was followed by squid and cuttlefish, fish meal, shrimp, and other products.
Pakistan shipped seafood to many countries including China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan, the United States, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The government worked hard to improve quality standards, add value to products, and open new markets. These efforts helped the sector grow despite global challenges.
The rise in exports supports thousands of fishermen and workers along the coast. It also brings valuable foreign exchange to the country. Experts say this growth strengthens Pakistan’s position in the international seafood market.
The minister praised the hard work of exporters and government teams. He noted that better cold chain facilities, modern processing units, and strict quality control played a key role. Pakistan is now focusing on further diversification and exploring new destinations like Russia.
