Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry has achieved a major milestone. Its exports reached $457 million in the financial year 2025. This is the highest level in 20 years and shows a 34% increase from the previous year.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal shared this news during a meeting with industry leaders, health officials and other stakeholders. He congratulated the sector on its progress and asked companies to aim much higher. Iqbal said Pakistan wants total national exports to cross $100 billion by 2035. The pharma industry should decide how much it can contribute to this goal.
He challenged the industry to think big. Instead of just adding a few more billion dollars in exports, Pakistan should work to become a true global pharmaceutical hub within the next 10 years. This means producing high-quality medicines that people around the world trust when they see the “Made in Pakistan” label.
To reach this target, the government and industry will hold a one-month consultation and workshop. They will identify problems such as complicated rules, high costs, production issues and difficulties in entering foreign markets. After that, they will prepare a clear roadmap for 2030 and beyond.
The industry has already set its own goals. It wants to raise exports from $457 million to $2 billion soon, then to $3 billion, and finally to $10 billion within eight years.
Iqbal promised that the government will support the private sector by creating a business-friendly environment and keeping policies stable.
