Pakistan Receives $33.86 Billion in Remittances as Overseas Inflows Continue to Grow

Pakistan received $3.54 billion in workers’ remittances during April 2026, showing steady support from overseas Pakistanis despite a monthly decline in inflows.

According to the latest figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan, remittances increased by 11.4% compared to April last year. However, inflows were 7.6% lower than March 2026, when overseas Pakistanis had sent a higher amount home.

Overall, remittances during the first 10 months of fiscal year 2026 reached $33.86 billion, compared to $31.21 billion received during the same period last year. This reflects an annual increase of 8.5%.

Experts say remittances continue to play an important role in supporting Pakistan’s economy by helping stabilize foreign exchange reserves and assisting families with household expenses.

The government has also been encouraging overseas Pakistanis to send money through formal banking channels and official transfer systems.

Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in April, with overseas Pakistanis sending $842 million. Although this amount was lower than March, it still showed strong yearly growth.

Remittances from the United Arab Emirates reached $735 million, while inflows from the United Kingdom stood at $564 million during the month.

Pakistanis living in the United States sent $318 million, slightly lower than the previous month. Meanwhile, remittances from European Union countries increased to $432 million.

Economists believe stable remittance inflows remain important for Pakistan’s external account and overall economic stability during ongoing financial challenges.
