Sales of passenger cars and pickups in Pakistan rose 20 percent year-on-year in August 2026, reaching 15,558 units. The increase was driven mainly by stronger demand for vehicles with engines of 1,300cc and above.
Data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) show Honda Atlas Cars posted the sharpest gain. The company sold 2,633 units, up 145 percent from August 2025. Its popular City and Civic models together accounted for 2,553 units, a rise of 265 percent. Sales of the HR-V and BR-V, however, dropped sharply to 80 units.
Indus Motor Company, the maker of Toyota vehicles, sold 4,029 units, an increase of 19 percent. Combined sales of the Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross reached 3,079 units (up 21 percent), while its utility and pickup models (IMV range) rose 12 percent to 950 units.
Ghandhara Automobiles Limited saw its X200 pickup sales jump 213 percent to 275 units. In the commercial segment, truck and bus sales also grew 20 percent to 875 units. Ghandhara Industries led with 501 units, while JAC truck deliveries more than doubled to 116 units, helped by new models.
The figures point to a recovery in demand for larger cars, pickups and commercial vehicles, even as overall monthly volumes fell from July amid policy uncertainty.
