Pakistan Readymade Garment Exports Hit Record $4.18 Billion in FY26

Pakistan’s readymade garment exports reached a record $4.18 billion in fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26). This marks a 5.5% rise from the previous year and shows the country’s steady push toward higher-value textile products.

Over the past ten years, these exports have more than doubled. They grew from $1.97 billion in FY16 to $4.18 billion in FY26. The sector recorded a compound annual growth rate of 7.8% during this period.

This growth matches Pakistan’s long-term plan to focus on value-added textiles. Finished garments bring in more foreign exchange than raw cotton, yarn, or basic cloth. Industry observers note that continued expansion in this area can strengthen the overall export base, help Pakistani products compete better in global markets, and support wider economic gains through more local processing and jobs.

The performance comes even as total merchandise exports faced challenges in FY26. While the broader textile group showed only modest overall growth, readymade garments remained one of the stronger categories. Demand from key markets such as the United States and Europe has helped sustain shipments of apparel.

Experts believe maintaining this momentum will require stable energy supplies, better logistics, and consistent policy support. If the sector keeps growing at a steady pace, it can play a larger role in boosting Pakistan’s export earnings and reducing reliance on lower-value goods.

The record result underlines the importance of moving up the value chain in textiles—one of Pakistan’s most important industries.
